The ball play court has a new fence and goal!!

December 2016

We have just had a seed sowing afternoon with bug life helped by some pupils from Compton school - pictures on the park pages.

Also we are waiting for a new fence and goal to be fitted to the ball play area, funded with grants from the council due to residential development in the area.

January 2015

The Big Green space Challenge award in which we were awarded money for planting a few years ago has finally bourne fruit, and this month the parks department has planted out Trees, Bushes and seeds, all of which will make the park more pleasant to be in for humans, and all of the other animals that enjoy our open space!!

 February 2012

The Tennis court has been resurfaced and when the Spring comes it will be marked up and have new posts and nets.

 There will also be some new benches and trees in the park over the next couple of months, the funds for this came from section 106 money, and some local area funding.

May 2010

There will be a meeting at 6.30pm on Thursday 20th May at Compton Methodist church, Eggbuckland Road, Higher Compton, to discuss improvements and funding for the park, all are welcome!!

We have recently attended the second of two meetings, aiming to set up a Plymouth parks forum, this will enable all of the Plymouth parks groups to join forces, and share information

Hartley Park is situated approximately 2 miles from the centre of Plymouth between Mannamead Road, Hartley Avenue, Eggbuckland Road and Reservoir Road. Click Here To View Map.

The park has a long history, formerly being known as Hartley Pleasure Gardens and being closely associated in it's early development with water supplies into Plymouth and specifically Hartley Reservoir.

In a prime location the park offers a pleasant open space, childre's play area and other recreational facilities including a tennis court.

Unfortunately, the park had fallen into disrepair and The Friends of Hartley Park was formed to gain funding and in liaison with the Parks Department of Plymouth City Council and Devon and Cornwall Police, to bring the park back to it's former glory.
